Avid Photographer
Welcome to Developing Photographer, a website devoted to my journey as a developing photographer. The site is designed to share the pictures I have made throughout my ongoing journey to improve my photography skills with those that have and continue help and support me along the way. I am by no means a professional, nor am I trying to become one, just an avid enthusiast that wants to make the best photographs possible and have fun doing it. I also feel an obligation to pay it forward and help others who are perusing the same adventure of discovering photography. Often it is the small things that we learn that provide the biggest improvement in our skills and if I can help even in the smallest way with a lesson learned the hard way or a tip on a great location I will be repaying the debt I feel I owe to those that have helped me with my passion, making pictures. I believe it was Randy Pausch that said “sometimes you can’t pay it back so you have to pay it forward”.
A self-taught photographer I started experimenting with photography back when film was the standard and was lucky enough to receive my first 35mm DSLR as a teenager. Growing up in the greater Toronto area and coming from a large family there was always lots to photograph. Photography has always been a passion and part of my life although at times it has taken a back seat to other priorities. Now living and working in New York State, over the past five years the drive to create better images and to take the craft further has reached an all time high. Life has blessed me with the ability and a support system to follow that passion and now photography has woven its way into most aspects of my everyday life. You will notice by my galleries my interests are varied and I enjoy the challenges of many genres including landscape, aviation, architecture, aerial, travel and night photography and I am looking forward to learning and trying many more.
Please enjoy the product of my journey and feel free to share your story and advice, we can all learn from each other no matter what our skill level.
So let’s take the journey together, I know I have so much more to learn.
